Émilie Pitoiset’s upcoming solo show at Klemm’s, So Much Tenderness follows an itinerary often deployed in Pitoiset’s practice – staging an atmosphere of controlled, ritualized, performative suffocation. In this case, the tension is centered in the figure of the mascot, stressing the promise of innocence and comfort it embodies while revealing the act of numbing it conceals.
