Dilemma
In her solo exhibition Dilemma, Gosia Lehmann transforms the project space Neun Kelche into a labyrinth. The toss of a coin decides the path upon which we embark. A floral steel gate and another made of arrows mark the two entrances to the blue maze, which, like a room within a room, hangs from the ceiling draped in velvet curtains. What riddles must be solved therein, and how do we find our way out of this Dilemma? An accompanying audio guide leads visitors through the installation.
In the installation and performance that make up Dilemma, the artist confronts us with riddles about contemporary economic problems. These riddles encourage us to question the often unintelligible entanglements of the financial sector, which nonetheless shape our individual lived realities. In her practice, Gosia Lehmann engages with economic shamanism — a term she uses to describe the black magic of the financial world and value fabrication, exploring phenomenons such as ‘disappearance’ of the offshore money or unjust debt.
