The Phantom of Liberty
Curated by Indira Béraud, the first exhibition of the Les Vitrines 2025 cycle showcases Isabella Benshimol's solo show, The Phantom of Liberty. The exhibition transforms Les Vitrines into a tableau of a domestic interior, where a cross-section of an apartment opens onto Kurfürstendamm, creating tension between private and public spheres. Sculptures and photographs made from furniture, lingerie, and textiles preserved in resin evoke the memory of absent bodies, revealing narratives frozen in time. The missing walls and suggested spaces expose power dynamics, where intimacy takes on a distinctly political dimension.
