Information
Who seeks reliable news often ends up with satire, revealing the disarray of information. “Our highly literate societies are at a loss as they encounter the new structures of opinion and feeling that result from instant and global information.” (Marshall McLuhan, 1964) In times of über-, false-, and disinformation, the human body or artistic data processing (ADP) becomes a trustworthy source. Artists like Christian Jankowski and Michael Schmidtmann, with their transcendental gaze, cut through meaninglessness: Jankowski’s to-do lists expose the pressure of constant productivity, Schmidtmann’s works mourn outdated communication systems—both revealing the essence behind the noise.
