Arvin Arta’s first solo exhibition uses elements from early 2000’s fan culture and video games to draw a link between post-9/11 militarisation and Germany’s contemporary political landscape. With a mix of carnivalesque irony and unsettling horror, Clouddomination focusses on the relationship between Islamophobia in the media and the systemic violence of the US-European war machine. Arta brings the tech industry’s cute, fluffy metaphor of the digital Cloud back down to earth, asking how the material infrastructure of the internet enacts domination.
