Der Laden mit den blauen Pullovern

Through an ensemble of pre-owned sweaters and hand-sewn pieces, Fabienne Audéoud interprets and modulates the textile meaning of navy blue, as it appears in ready-to-wear, like a symptom or a slip of the tongue, rising from the monarchic and military unconscious. Inherited from a royal emblem, derived from a pigment historically tied to the slave trade, and later absorbed into republican ideology, navy blue stains our social landscape. While ‘to pull over’ orders one to step aside, Audéoud’s pullovers imagine glitches in the disciplined grammar of the uniform, turning their very irregularities into ornament and excess.
