Die Architektinnen* oder Wie eine gescheiterte Hoffnung ausstellen
In the 1980s, a distinctly East German engagement with postmodernism emerged in the GDR out of a bohemian subculture. Drawing on the life and work of architect Michael Kny, the “Marzahner Tor” he designed, and Peter Kahane’s film Die Architekten (“The Architects”), the exhibition uses models, texts, film documents, and artistic interventions to explore the failed hopes for a “New GDR.”
