Walter Storms Galerie presents an exhibition dedicated to Raimund Girke (1930–2002), conceived as both a retrospective and a personal homage. Bringing together works from different phases of his career, the exhibition traces Girke’s sustained engagement with the color white through layered surfaces, rhythmic brushwork, and subtle tonal variations. His “Fundamental Painting” explored light, materiality, perception, density, and reduction, resulting in a distinctive painterly language of clarity and quiet intensity. Since the early 1980s, Walter Storms and Raimund Girke shared a close professional relationship and long-standing friendship. Over decades, the gallery realized numerous exhibitions with the artist and continuously supported his work.
