Eternal 20th Century
Eternal 20th Century, Sven Johne’s latest exhibition at Klemm’s, stages a delicate choreography of images and gestures that retrace the landscapes of history through the body, pointing at the threshold of presence and erasure. The exhibition gathers four new bodies of works, each circling the persistence of the past within the present. Fire, skin, water, and earth recur as elemental motifs—high-pressure forces spanning years, pressing violence against fragility, authority against vulnerability. Together, they speculate on a century that refuses to end, insisting that history remains inscribed upon body and psyche—fragile, exposed, enduring—beneath the crushing weight of its repetition.
