ALLTAG
In her mysterious figurative compositions and vibrant, luminous color palettes, Katherine Bradford (b. 1942, New York) skillfully blends the traditions of Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting with contemporary questions of identity and gender. She typically places her figures in dreamlike and otherworldly settings devoid of spatial perspective, such as outer space or the open sea. Interested in delving into the depths of “who we are, how we fit in … what we look like and how we interact with one another,” as she herself puts it, Bradford employs the strategies of abstraction and androgyny to explore ideas of self and identity. The exhibition ALLTAG, which will take place during Gallery Weekend, will feature new works by the 83-year-old New York-based artist. The artist will be present.
