Mail Message from my Studio
In its upcoming exhibition, ChertLüdde presents Robert Rehfeldt’s paintings in dialogue with his Mail Art, highlighting his sustained engagement with methods of communication—central to his artistic practice.
Robert Rehfeldt (1931, Stargard – 1993, Berlin, Germany) was a freelance graphic artist, press illustrator, and visual artist who worked across painting, performance, printmaking, illustration, filmmaking, and Mail Art. He lived and worked in Berlin-Pankow for most of his career, where in the early 1960s, he gained recognition as one of the leading experimental artists in East Berlin. In the early 1970s, he helped bring the international Mail Art movement to Berlin and became a pioneering figure of Mail Art in East Germany.
