The three artists, Elvira Lantenhammer, Monika Linhard, and Zuzanna Skiba, humorously reference the mythological figure of the Titan Atlas, who powerfully supports the heavens and the earth, with the title »Atlantinnen«. Since the 16th century, »Atlas« has also served as a male name for cartographic publications. Selected works by the artists engage with the science of cartography and the figure of Atlas in their own unique way, exploring, reflecting on, and visualizing topographical, philosophical, and socio-critical issues. As part of the Gallery Weekend, guided tours of the exhibition will take place at 15:00 in the presence of the artists. On 16.06.2026 at 18:00, an artist talk will be held, moderated by Dr. Almut Hüfler.
